Watercolors

Not only has he read widely in epic literature, but his water colors can have the quality of medieval illuminations. Bearden also has a deep feeling for paper. Its white delivers more light to him than he can ever coax out of canvas. If he was a musician in the way he approaches tones and intervals, he is also a storyteller, and paper is as much his element as color and line.
